Adam Toms is one of the worlds up and coming modern country music singer/songwriters
He grew up in Country Victoria Australia where his teen years were spent playing in pub rock cover bands where his singing and guitar playing continued to develop. During this time Adam started learning the craft of song writing, however the call of Melbourne city saw him make a move for a new adventure.
Not long after making the move Adam teamed up with Aria award winning producer / engineer Doug Roberts - best known for his work with artists such as The Badloves, Chocolate Starfish, Boom Crash Opera, Paul Kelly, John Farnham, Mick Jagger and Chris Wilson. Doug introduced him to Peter Farnan (ex Boom Crash Opera) with a view to write some songs together which proved to be a successful collaboration. The pair wrote many songs together and eventually Doug, Peter and Adam co-produced a solid album which lent itself to a 'commercial radio rock/pop' theme. Many of the songs received support on numerous community radio stations nationally.
However for Adam something was missing. Over the course of the next year Adam realised that this genre wasn't a perfect match. He had always had many people suggest that his music leant in a more 'country rock/pop' vibe. Over the Easter of 2008 Adam had what he calls a 'Light bulb moment'. "I was listening over my old demo's one day and realised I have a bunch of material which was never written with the intent of a country rock/pop vibe but it's all as clear as day to me now. This is what I need to be doing. It all makes sense!" Adam had always listened to country music growing up however it took a few years for it to really start to show in is own writing. It's hard to say what or who Adam and his songs sound like. If you mixed a musical cocktail of Keith Urban, Ben Harper, Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Hendrix & Gary Moore, and added a twist of country twang you might get a nice taste of his music!
So with his new focus locked in Adam decided to lay down some more tracks in the studio and called on Doug Roberts again for the recording and mixing and co-producing duties. An an all-star cast of players was assembled for the sessions with John Favaro (Badloves) on bass, Tony Floyd (Things of Stone and Wood) on drums, guitarist Tom Baeppler and Keys man Sean Bowen completed the mix with Andy Baylor adding Mandolin and Fiddle. What was created was a great offering of modern country rock.
Adam's first single '6 Months Of Lovin you' will be out mid 09 on a 4 track EP
