Luke Bryan
The Small Town Southern Boy Who Hit the Big Time
Luke Bryan hails from the small town of Leesburg, Georgia where he grew up working on his family’s peanut farm. Music was always part of his life – he sang in church and learned to play guitar as a teenager. After graduating high school, Bryan studied business administration at Georgia Southern University, but his true passion was music.
In 2001, Bryan made the move to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. He signed a songwriting deal with a major publisher and spent years penning hits for other artists like Travis Tritt and Billy Currington. Bryan’s big break came in 2007 when he was discovered by a Capitol Records A&R rep while playing in a bar. His debut album “I’ll Stay Me” was released that same year and featured the top 10 hit “All My Friends Say.”
Over the next few years, Bryan steadily climbed the charts with songs like “Do I” and “Rain Is A Good Thing” cementing his reputation as a new traditionalist country artist with a knack for nostalgic lyrics and good-time anthems. His sophomore album “Doin’ My Thing” spawned two #1 singles “Do I” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby”.
In 2011, Bryan exploded onto the scene with his triple-platinum breakthrough album “Tailgates & Tanlines” featuring massive hits “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”, “I Don’t Want This Night To End” and “Drunk on You.” Bryan had officially become one of country music’s biggest superstars. He won the ACM and CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year in 2013 and hasn’t slowed down since.
Subsequent albums like “Crash My Party”, “Kill The Lights” and “What Makes You Country” have all been certified platinum and produced more hit singles including “Play It Again”, “Kick The Dust Up”, “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” and “Most People Are Good.” Bryan has become known for his high-energy live shows and consistently sells out arenas across the country.
With over 15 million albums sold, Bryan has undeniably left a huge imprint on country music over the past decade. Though now an established hitmaker, he stays true to his small-town Southern roots and delivers a brand of feel-good country that resonates with millions of fans. Luke Bryan is surely one of the defining country stars of this era.
