Martina Mariea Schiff was born on July 29, 1966 in Sharon, Kansas. She grew up singing in her family’s band and was inspired by country legends like Reba McEntire, Linda Ronstadt, and Patsy Cline. After high school, Martina moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. She signed with RCA Records in 1991 and took the stage name Martina McBride, incorporating her husband’s last name.

Martina’s debut album “The Time Has Come” was released in 1992 and featured her first major hit “The Time Has Come.” Over the next decade, Martina steadily built her career with hits like “Independence Day”, “Wild Angels”, and “A Broken Wing.” She became known for her powerful soprano voice and emotional ballads about small-town life, family, and empowerment.

Martina hit superstar status in the late 90s and early 2000s. Her 1997 album “Evolution” went double platinum and featured crossover pop hits like “Valentine” and “Happy Girl.” She won the CMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year award four times (1999, 2002, 2003, 2004) and the ACM’s Top Female Vocalist award three times (2001, 2002, 2003). Her music videos were MTV and CMT staples, showcasing Martina’s girl-next-door charm.
